Chris Jensen Health and Rehabilitation Center invites the public to an Open House and Wellness Fair taking place at the facility on Wednesday, July 13 from 1:00– 4:00 p.m. The event will feature tours of the newly renovated Physical Therapy Department, Occupational Therapy Home, and the region’s only Car Transfer Simulator. There will also be a variety of vendors demonstrating services and items to promote health and wellness. This fun filled afternoon will include musical entertainment, refreshments, and prizes.
Since being acquired by Health Dimensions Group on November 1, 2009, Chris Jensen has experienced many enhancements through remodeling and renovations. The center of these improvements is a 30-bed Short-Term Rehabilitation Unit that provides a place for patients to recover and attend therapy after a hospital stay. The motto, “Get Better, Get Home” describes the unit’s focus on physical, occupational, and speech therapy to provide the resources patients need to regain strength and independence to return home.State-of-the-art equipment has been installed to assist patients with their recovery goals. The Physical Therapy Gym features new equipment along with space for specialized private treatment. The Occupational Therapy Department boasts a model home that is unlike other short-term units. Here patients are able to participate in therapy sessions doing the exact things they would do at home such as: cooking, cleaning, and housekeeping in a real kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, and laundry room. The Occupational Therapy space is also the home of the area’s only Car Transfer Simulator. The simulator is adjustable to meet the individual specifications of each patient’s vehicle.
Patients who cannot go home from the hospital without additional therapy or nursing care will benefit from the renovations to the Therapy Department. “We see patients with fractures, joint replacements, and serious medical conditions, such as strokes and heart failure. They come here to receive expert care from nurses, physical, occupational, and speech therapists. Their recovery rates are incredible,” says Administrator Melody Krattenmaker.
Chris Jensen Health and Rehabilitation Center has been contributing to the Duluth community since the 1960’s.
